Traditional Sugaring is an ancient form of hair removal, dating back to Egyptian times. Using a hand held paste (made from lemon, sugar and water) I am able to remove unwanted from the natural direction of growth. This room temperature paste can be used on all areas of the body. The results are longer lasting smoothness and minimal to no irritation.
Please note: THOUGH sugaring is natural and a more gentle service, sugaring is not recommended if you’re taking Retin-A, Accutane, or any type of acne prescription. This WILL cause lifting of the skin. Please let me know if you are taking these medication or other antibiotics / acne related prescriptions.
The least painful time to get sugared is the week after your period and before ovulation. Most painful will be during menstruation and ovulation. If you come in while actively on your cycle , a fresh tampon or cup will need to be inserted before service.
Just shaved? You will want to give your hair 10-14 days of growth before coming in.
Feeling unruly? You can trim hair with clippers using no smaller than a 1/2 inch guard to avoid trimming too short.
Avoid caffeine before you appointment. It causes you to be more sensitive and can enhance discomfort during sugaring.
Avoid exfoliating 24- 48 hours before and after your appointment. Exfoliation too soon before your appointment can cause sensitivity, over exfoliation And a more painful experience. 48 hours after service exfoliation should be done 1-3 times a week depending on skin type.
24-48 hours after your sugaring you will want to avoid working out, pools, saunas, tanning beds, intercourse and heavy scented lotions. This will make sure bacteria isn't introduced to the follicle and will help prevent breakouts or irritation.
Hair will grow back thinner and more sparse. It is essential to keep the skin exfoliated and moisturized to help prevent ingrown hair. Exfoliation 1-3 times a week and moisturize everyday. Appointments are recommended to be done every 4-6 weeks for best results.
For 24-48 hours after service:
• Go commando or wear cotton to let the area breathe.
• Skip vigorous workouts, avoid sweating, saunas and hot tubs to avoid bacteria from entering the freshly opened follicle.
• Avoid sexual activity. Again, we don’t want to introduce bacteria or clog pores with lube, plus you could be sensitive or slightly sore.
• No need to exfoliate for 72 hours. The sugaring process is exfoliation and we don’t want to over sensitize skin.
In between appointments it’s very important to have a productive exfoliation and moisturizing routine.
Hair will become softer and less dense, even after one appointment. It is important to keep dead skin buildup from over accumulating to help prevent ingrown hair and keep skin healthy.
